A painter and sculptor, M.J. Kempf is an artist inspired by the beauty of France and Italy. Traveling to these regions of Europe each year, M.J. loves the landscapes, rivers and city scenes. She photographs, records and draws what she sees and then retreats to her Atlanta studio to create her work in gouache, oils, inks and charcoals. Often she uses mixed media on both canvas and paper.
Painting series have included: Paris, Views of the Seine; Views of Florence and the River Arno; Landscapes of Tuscany; and Montmartre, Scenes of Paris. A true Francophile, M.J. owned a home and lived in the south of France. She speaks the language fluently. She has lived in both Paris and the South of France. A native of Atlanta, M.J. holds a bachelor degree of fine arts in sculpture and painting from Georgia State University.
